Social and Environmental Responsibility
As a company with a local, national and global mandate, the action of Entreprise Générale du Cobalt aims to improve the lives of hundreds of thousands of Congolese directly or indirectly affected by the activity of artisanal cobalt mining.
This commitment to communities is exercised in the following ways:
- The guarantee of the exercise of a secure activity and a decent income which results in the betterment of the living conditions of the craftsmen themselves.
- The development of mining projects, through community action programs, development projects and economic diversification for our communities.
- The implementation of environmental conditions for the operations of mining sites to protect the natural ecosystem.
- This responsibility is reflected in particular by:
EGC’s responsible sourcing standards, the most stringent and restrictive, ever voluntarily enacted by an operator with regard to the national and international legislation in force, whether in terms of artisanal, commercial, social or environmental exploitation.
Through a single economic model, which equitably distributes the wealth produced, EGC offers a deeply renewed framework for artisanal mining. This social and environmental responsibility of Entreprise Générale du Cobalt in its ecosystem is a condition of stakeholder acceptance of its project and of its collective success. Indeed, EGC is a vector of aggregation of wills and multiple efforts through its position and the values it promotes.
